  • Humberto Carolo

    Humberto Carolo (He/Him)

    ​Humberto is a globally recognized gender-based violence prevention expert and the Chief Executive Officer for White Ribbon. With a focus on engaging men and boys as allies in promoting gender equality and healthy masculinities, he has provided technical assistance and expert guidance to diverse organizations, institutions, governments, UN agencies, and industry sectors around the globe.

    Humberto is a former Co-chair and current Board member of the Global MenEngage Alliance and is a founding member of the North American MenEngage Network. In addition to his work in Canada and the United States, Humberto has developed significant cross-cultural experience in diverse settings, including Brazil, Cape Verde, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Zambia, and Ethiopia.

    Humberto serves on the External Advisory Council for the Department of National Defense and Canadian Armed Forces Sexual Misconduct Support and Resource Centre, and is a member of the Ontario Government’s Domestic Violence Death Review Committee. He is also a member of the Religions for Peace Standing Commission on Advancing Gender Equality.

    Humberto has a degree in Sociology, Political Science and Portuguese from the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program (Leadership and Non-Profit Management) from the York University Schulich School of Business. Humberto is a Diverse City Fellow (2014).

  • Toby Goldberg (She/Her)

    Toby is the Executive Assistant to the Office of the CEO for White Ribbon. Her role at White Ribbon includes providing direct support to and acting as a trusted advisor and partner to the Office of the CEO.

    Toby has over two decades of experience within the public and non-profit sectors, focused primarily in the areas of women’s economic empowerment and gender-based violence prevention. Her work with the Government of Ontario included 10 years as the Executive Assistant and Business Planning Coordinator for the Office of the Assistant Deputy Minister, Office of Women’s Issues/Ontario Women’s Directorate.

    Her roots in the community sector began with work as a trainer, coach, and coordinator

    for community-based self-employment programs. She has also worked as an independent consultant in areas including entrepreneurship curriculum development for programs serving newcomer and refugee women, grant writing, and research on the intersectionality of gender and poverty.

    Toby has a BA from the University of Michigan, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

  • Manoj Paul (He/Him)

    Manoj is the Senior Director, Finance and Operations at White Ribbon. Manoj is responsible for delivery of efficient financial and operational management. As an internationally trained Chartered Accountant, Manoj has worked in finance and accounting within the non-profit sector for more than 15 years.

    Prior to his non-profit leadership roles, Manoj held senior management and finance positions in financial services and manufacturing organizations. Manoj is passionate about preventing gender-based violence, and services offered by White Ribbon. Manoj has a keen interest in continuing education in his professional fields. He enjoys music in his free time.

  • Kate Bojin (She/Her)

    Kate is the Senior Director of Programs at White Ribbon. Kate is a published author, and has worked across research, non-profit, consulting and private sectors to promote gender equity. Early in her career, Kate worked in Pondicherry, India supporting grassroots advocacy to prevent gender-based violence.

    Kate has presented at numerous local, national and global conferences on the area of gender equality, male ally-ship and gender-based violence prevention. As Director of Programs, Kate oversees a dynamic portfolio of White Ribbon projects, providing coaching and support to our stellar staff, explores new partnership development, and leads organizational learning initiatives.

    Kate obtained a Masters of Arts in Adult Education and Community Development, at OISE, University of Toronto, and is a graduate of the Coady International Institute, completing certificates in Leadership and Organizational Learning and Change.

  • Louise Moyer (She/Her)

    Louise Moyer is the Senior Director of Organizational Development at White Ribbon. Louise's focus is on organizational and program development at the international, national and local levels. Louise has dedicated her career to ending violence against women and promoting gender equality, having worked for the past 24 years for the Ontario government, in Victim Services, the Office of Women's Issues and the Ontario Women's Directorate.

    Louise was instrumental in developing and implementing key provincial strategies, including Ontario's Domestic Violence Action Plan, the Sexual Violence Action Plan and It's Never Okay: An Action Plan to Stop Sexual Violence and Harassment.

    Louise's passions are public education and primary prevention, with numerous campaigns in her portfolio, including the award-winning Who Will You Help campaign. Her extensive collaboration with White Ribbon over the years includes projects such as the It Starts With You Campaign, Draw the Line, and many others. Louise holds an Honours B.A. and a Masters in Philosophy from York University, and a Masters in Public Administration from Queen's University.

  • David Garzon (He/Him)

    David Garzon is the Director of Marketing and Communications at White Ribbon. David is in charge of developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication initiatives to engage various partners, promote philanthropy efforts, and raise awareness about the organization's goals and impact. David has worked in Bolivia, Guatemala, and Colombia, delivering workshops and implementing projects on gender equity, masculinities, LGBTQ+ rights, gender-based violence, feminism, youth empowerment, health, and fair trade.

    David holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Latin American and Caribbean studies from York University, a certificate in Critical Reflections on Masculinities from the Center for Social Research, Technology and Capacity Building.

  • Katie Taylor (She/Her)

    Katie is the Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Engagement at White Ribbon. She is responsible for enhancing White Ribbon’s capacity by engaging workplaces in fundraising and volunteer engagement.

    Katie has been a volunteer her whole life as a way to connect and engage with the community. She is an advocate for prograssive organizations that create a vibrant and healthy impact for folks that need support. She brings wide ranging experience in fund development, special events, communications, marketing and workplace engagement.

    Prior to her role at White Ribbon, Katie worked as the Development Manager for the Women and Children's Shelter of Barrie leading crucial fund development and program oversight, including the Women's Advocacy Council and the Violence Prevention Program. As a mother of two young boys, she is all the more committed to advancing gender equality with women, vulnerable youth, Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQ who experience different forms of gender-based violence.

  • Taylor Demetrioff (He/Him)

    Taylor Demetrioff is the Bilingual Program Manager at White Ribbon. With over a decade working in the mental health field, Taylor has worked hard to bring positive programming and education to Canadian teens and adults.

    Starting in his career, Taylor developed a mental health and music program for teens struggling with their mental well-being called “Let It Out!” while studying at l’Université de Saint Boniface on Treaty 1 land. More recently, Taylor has focused his efforts on fostering meaningful relations with Elders and Indigenous leaders across Canada to work collaboratively to challenge colonialism while maintaining a deep love, respect and appreciation for Indigenous cultures.

    As a father, Taylor strives to work towards a future free from all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination while promoting healthy masculinities, gender equality and a healthier way of living for all.

  • Zoey James (She/Her)

    Zoey is a Program Manager at White Ribbon. Zoey is a passionate Child and Youth Worker with experience engaging youth in a variety of settings including; Recreation, Education, Child Welfare and Youth Justice. Zoey brings a strong youth-centered and trauma-informed approach into her work. Prior to her role at White Ribbon, Zoey engaged international students to build their capacity in academics, life skills, and mental health. Additionally, she ran large-scale community and youth events.

    As part of her time at the Cross Over Youth Project, she had the opportunity to work with Indigenous partners in Thunder Bay learning about the intricacies of intergenerational trauma and decolonizing practices, completing her thesis on the subject of the Perpetuation of Intergenerational Trauma among Indigenous Youth in Canada.

    Zoey has always had a passion for social justice and social change and obtained her B.A. in Sociology and Legal Studies and a Masters in Child and Youth Care. In her spare time she enjoys interior design and taking care of her plants.

  • Adjei Scott (He/They)

    Adjei is a Community Engagement Manager at White Ribbon. They are an Afro-Taino-Caribbean person, a sibling, a community worker, and a yoga teacher who likes to spend time in nature, along with reading and writing short stories. His work centers healing through transformation and growth, advocating for healthy ways of expressing the diverse embodiments of masculinity(ies), and a commitment to ending gender-based violence (GBV).

    Adjei holds a bachelor’s in History with a minor in Latin America and Caribbean Studies from York University, and a Masters in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. They are currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the Factor-Inwentash, Faculty of Social Work, at the University of Toronto.

    Adjei’s experiences are based in creating programs and curriculums for youths and young adults. Some of his work includes, working with young black men to explore and express black masculinities in its diverse forms, working with the City of Toronto and Stella’s Place to create workshops that responded to mental health and gun violence in communities across Toronto and reaching programs that center the inclusivity of Afro-Caribbean cultures and queer identities. Prior to their work at White Ribbon, Adjei was the Male Allies Educator for the Sexual Assault Support Center of Waterloo Region, where his work focused on creating spaces that supported men and boys to increase their awareness and understanding of gender-based violence (GBV) and facilitated programs on how men can become allies to end Gender-Based Violence.

  • Kayt Ward (She/Her)

    Kayt is a Research Coordinator at White Ribbon. She is a non-status Algonquin/European queer, disabled woman. She comes to White Ribbon having worked as a holistic care worker in the social work, birth work, and yoga communities. Kayt became passionate about research after witnessing how often structural oppression influences peoples’ lives in direct practice, and how education and systemic change are necessary in improving the well-being of individuals.

    As a Research Coordinator, Kayt will research grant opportunities and relevant statistics to support White Ribbon's organizational development.

    Prior to her work at White Ribbon, Kayt worked as an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Lead at Doula Canada where she led a Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan and facilitated workshops on settler allyship and trauma-informed care. As a former research assistant, her experience includes critical and anti-oppressive social work research with post-secondary students from marginalized groups, as well as decolonizing eating disorder intervention methods.

    Kayt holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Trent University. In her spare time, Kayt enjoys hiking with her dog, bead work, and writing poetry.

  • Kiara-Kumail (They/She)

    Kiara-Kumail is a Research Coordinator at White Ribbon, dedicated to securing funding opportunities, conducting key research and developing innovative programs to end gender-based violence. She also stars as 'Vivian' in White Ribbon's 2023 global campaign, 'Short Life Stories/ Vies en Bref', raising awareness on the issues affecting trans individuals across Canada and globally.

    Prior to White Ribbon, Kiara-Kumail had led youth empowerment initiatives at NGO's in Kenya, Tanzania and Toronto, guided by the philosophy of 'Ubuntu' (I Am Because We Are), to inspire collective action for various social justice movements. They are a passionate and long-standing advocate for many different communities, committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable world.

    She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Performance Acting from Toronto Metropolitan University.

  • Marcelle Dalal (She/Her)

    Marcelle is White Ribbon’s Bilingual Community Engagement Manager. She is a Certified Gender Trainer by the UN Women Training Centre and the Royal Tropical Institute – Amsterdam. With a career spanning 15 years in the humanitarian sector, Marcelle has dedicated her expertise to advancing gender equality, education, and protection initiatives within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

    Originally embarking on her professional journey as a Science teacher in Beirut - Lebanon, Marcelle obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences along with a Teaching diploma from Saint Joseph University - Lebanon. However, driven by her commitment to gender justice, she made a career transition four years later from the classroom to the frontlines of humanitarian work, where she volunteered, managed education and protection projects, and conducted comprehensive training sessions on various gender-related topics, impacting individuals and groups alike.

    In addition, she is a key contributor to the Gender Learning Network (GLN), a global community of gender specialists, uniting to provide support, resources, and mentorship opportunities to further the cause of gender equality worldwide.

    She recently moved to Canada, adding “immigrant” to her identity and dreaming of a better life in a country she chose to call Home.

    In brief, she’s a feminist, a dreamer and a lifetime learner.

  • Monica Boquin (She/Her)

    Monica is a Community Engagement Manager at White Ribbon. She works to organize projects and build meaningful relationships to advance gender-based violence prevention and healthy masculinity initiatives. Monica is passionate about supporting women and working to eradicate gender-based violence.

    She has broad experience in managing and creating NGOs both in Canada and internationally. Before joining White Ribbon, she worked in creating different initiatives to support newcomers during their transition to Canada and also mentored and developed activities for post-secondary students.

    Monica graduated from St.Thomas University with Honours in Human Rights and a major in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

  • Sarah Cunningham (She/Her)

    Sarah Cunningham is White Ribbon’s Indigenous Community Engagement Manager

    Sarah brings over 20 years of experience of working and advocating with and for women, children and youth.

    Sarah is Cree from Rama First Nation with roots from Brunswick House First Nation and belongs to the Bear Clan. Sarah has worked in various capacities across the County of Simcoe and Canada with many non-profit organizations, Artists, Board of Directors, government and educational institutions. Throughout her learning journey, many leaders and trail-blazing women have mentored Sarah. Sarah is passionate in organizing, collaborating and creating events to bring communities together to improve the quality of life and knowledge to create equality for our future seven generations.

    Sarah provides leadership, strategic communications through her collaboration on the creation of new research, policies, protocols, content creation, project management and development. She is a liaison between councils and community to identify overlaps and gaps to bring awareness to make change.

    She is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering projects, research and events.

  • Strength Of Two Buffalo Dale (He/Him)

    Strength Of Two Buffalo is White Ribbon’s Workplace Engagement Manager. He is Kanien:keha’ka (Mohawk) from Six Nations of the Grand River. For the past 37 years Strength Of Two Buffalo has had the opportunity to learn from an extremely diverse community of Elders such as the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, Cree, Lakota and Inuit spanning across both Canada and the United States.

    He has a formal education in the field of Social Services, graduated from the Bachelor of Ed. in Aboriginal Adult Education at Brock University, completed the Men’s Indigenous Social Work Program from Muncey Healing Lodge and Addictions Counselling Certification through Polytechnic Institute Six Nations.

    Strength received certification in Kanawayhitowin, a campaign created to address intimate partner violence within Indigenous communities. Strength has co-led MMIWG2S front-line protections advocating for federal bodies to prioritize the well being of Indigenous women, girls and two spirit people. He worked alongside Indigenous women and allies to advance the implementation of “Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls” recommendations.

    Strength Of Two Buffalo has been honoured by a Woman’s Domestic Assault survivors’ group and named an honorary woman which gave him the privilege of entering into safe spaces. A title Strength values and holds very close to his heart.

    Strength has focused his efforts in supporting community by engaging (w)holistic and balanced living by using traditional Indigenous knowledge to reinforce critical thinking practices addressing Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Strength has worked over thirty years doing his best to role model the actions of Respect, Reciprocity and Relationship applying the teachings of interconnectedness and Skennen (peace). We would like to welcome Strength Of Two Buffalo to the White Ribbon team.

  • Patrick Iregura (He/Him)

    Patrick is the Bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator at White Ribbon. His portfolio includes projects such as Preventing Online Sexual Exploitation with Youth and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, more specifically in the context of Quebec.

    He is responsible for core projects implementation, designing and delivering workshops, as well as rendering the work of White Ribbon accessible to Francophone audiences.

    Patrick brings extensive youth engagement, facilitation and advocacy for marginalized groups and peace-building experience in Rwanda and South Sudan. He has worked with global organizations, including Mindfulness Without Borders, to introduce Social Emotional Learning in post-conflict community, and trained civil affairs officers and Child Protection officers for the United Nations Mission to South Sudan (UNMISS).

    Patrick holds a Masters in Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation from University of Innsbruck, Austria and BA in English-History and Education from Kigali Institute of Education. 

    As a father of a young boy, he is committed to integrating virtues of gender equity and prioritizing sustainable mental health practices in everyday life. Patrick is also a writer and in his spare time, he loves reading, music, sports and arts.

  • Brandee Albert (She/Her) - Consultant, Indigenous Knowledge

    Tansi! Tahkwakin Pinisew Maskwa Iskwew nitisinikason. Kinosew Sipi nitochin. Brandee Albert is from Norway House Cree Nation, Manitoba but currently resides in Thompson, Manitoba. Brandee works at the Manitoba First Nation Education Resource Centre as a Student Support Facilitator with a team of nine who support students and staff in First Nation schools with their social, emotional and mental well-being.

    She has been practicing social work in different capacities in Northern Manitoba for the last 15 years. Brandee has a Master of Social Work in the Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency program from the University of Toronto. Following her student internship with White Ribbon, Brandee is partnering with us to advance our efforts in decolonization and centre Indigenous peoples experiences.

    Brandee has shared that her family, community and love for who she is as an Indigenous woman motivates her to continue the work and fulfil her passion of creating positive differences for our children, youth, and communities. Ekosani! Thank you!
