Walk A Mile In Her Shoes
Thank you to everyone who participated in White Ribbon's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2020, a walk to end gender-based violence, racism, and all forms of discrimination. Walk a Mile 2020 was accompanied by a playlist, put together for White Ribbon by DJ Jordan MacNevin: Listen to the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2020 playlist.
The ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic has had a significant impact on organizations and events such as ours. Public Health Guidelines and the need to keep everyone safe have made it impossible for events such as Walk a Mile to continue in their current format. White Ribbon has made the difficult decision to postpone this year's Walk until May 2022 in the hopes that we can come together again in a collective effort, and in allyship, to speak out against all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination.
In the meantime, the work to end gender-based violence and discrimination, including violence against women, racism, homophobia, transphobia and so many intersecting forms of violence, continues. The pandemic has highlighted the deep-rooted, disproportionate impact of violence and discrimination on women's lives. Our primary prevention work with men and boys is more important than ever and must continue.
We are gearing up to launch a major new campaign to coincide with Father's Day in June and we are getting ready to remember 30 years of work at White Ribbon later in the year. Yes, 2021 marks three decades of grass-roots White Ribbon campaigning, programming, technical assistance, and advocacy to create a future without gender-based violence.
We look forward to sharing more details about these initiatives with you and invite your involvement. In the meanwhile, we invite you to view some great moments from last year's walk, and other past walks (pre-Covid19):
