White Ribbon’s Community Engagement Manager Kevin Vowles spoke with CBC’s Mainstreet about normalizing men publicly showing affection for each other.
As The Tragically Hip’s final concert in a “farewell” tour was broadcast live, for free, by the CBC, millions of people were witness to Gord Downie kissing and hugging his bandmates and support team.
By allowing us to step outside of.. toxic masculine restrictions, that lead to violence against women and girls, the homophobia that so many men in our culture are impacted by, by stretching those boundaries, they have done us a great service. – Kevin Vowles
